In the terms of the neighborhood plan, building permits are included so that it will be possible to enlarge and develop all the primary schools in the district.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Today, there are three primary schools run by the city and three private primary schools in the district. H\u00e1teigshverfi has H\u00e1teigssk\u00f3li and \u00cdsakssk\u00f3li. In Hl\u00ed\u00f0ahverfi are Hl\u00ed\u00f0ask\u00f3li and Klettask\u00f3li which is a special school for students with developmental disabilities as well as Su\u00f0urhl\u00ed\u00f0arsk\u00f3li.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In \u00d6skjuhl\u00ed\u00f0arhverfi, Hjallastefnan has a primary school.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">There are two secondary schools. In H\u00e1teigshverfi is T\u00e6knisk\u00f3linn in the old Sj\u00f3mannask\u00f3linn and in Hl\u00ed\u00f0ahverfi is Menntask\u00f3linn vi\u00f0 Hamrahl\u00ed\u00f0. The School of Education at the University of Iceland is located at Stakkahl\u00ed\u00f0, where the Iceland University of Education used to be. Reykjav\u00edk University is located at Menntavegur in \u00d6skjuhl\u00ed\u00f0arhverfi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">A new downtown preschool and family center will be built in the southwestern part of the not bounded by Grettisgata, Nj\u00e1lsgata and Rau\u00f0ar\u00e1rst\u00edgur. The downtown preschool will accommodate about 116 children aged one to six years and construction is scheduled to begin in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">It is also expected that a new primary school will be built at Nauth\u00f3lsvegur 81.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">This winter, work will be done on a closer examination of the utilization of housing and the future needs of the current primary schools in the district.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Hl\u00ed\u00f0ask\u00f3li has about 570 students in the current housing and additional housing. The school&#8217;s site does not offer many expansion possibilities, but primarily to build over the school&#8217;s inner courtyard or build on top of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">H\u00e1teigssk\u00f3li has about 470 students in the current housing and additional housing.
